Wear red for redistricting
Texas is a majority Republican state and has been since we went red 30 years ago.
Shouldn’t our Congressional districts better reflect that reality? Fortunately, we have an opportunity to correct decades of race-based gerrymandering by adding up to FIVE new Republican seats to Texas’s Congressional delegation!
The Texas Legislature is scheduled to meet Friday morning to discuss a proposed new Congressional district map that would better reflect our Republican majority and our diverse neighborhoods. But we need your support to get there. The Democrats are hopping mad, even importing Hakeem Jeffries to give marching orders. And they’re at the Capitol in full force this week, wearing blue.
We’re asking our supporters to show up to the Texas Capitol wearing RED and stand up for efforts to come up with a better map for ALL Texans!
10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1
Texas Capitol Extension
Room E1.030
You don’t have to speak! Just sign up.
On-site registration begins at the kiosks in the Extension hallway at 9 a.m.
Even if you don’t wish to testiy or register, show up wearing red and let’s build support for FIVE new GOP congressional members from Texas! Come meet some fellow Republicans, MAGA supporters, and conservatives and maybe grab lunch with some new friends.
FAQ:
How long will I have to stay? You can stay as long as you wish, but please know this hearing may go until late in the evening or the next day. The subject matter may be of a technical nature so be prepared for that.
Can I see the map? It’s available here (Plan C2308): https://dvr.capitol.texas.gov/Congress/73/PLANC2308. It’s included as part of House Bill 4. Find out which Congressional members belong to which district number here.
Aren’t the maps done every 10 years with the Census, anyway? Yes, but President Trump has requested that we more accurately draw our maps in the meantime so that we have a maximum number of Republicans ready to support his America First agenda and elect more Republicans in the 2026 midterms/gubernatorial election. More background here.
Is this fair and legal? Yes, and recently affirmed by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
How do I sign up at the kiosks, and where are they? Even if you don't have time (or the desire) to speak in front of a committee, you can always "drop a card" (sign up) showing your support. Dropping a card must be done on Texas Capitol grounds through the touch-screen kiosks in the hallways of the Capitol Extension or through a laptop/tablet that is connected to the free public Capitol WiFi (http://swrs.senate.state.tx.us for Senate or http://hwrs.house.state.tx.us for House). A card can only be dropped on the day of the legislative hearing. The bill will generally be available for registering a position 30 minutes to an hour before the committee hearing is scheduled to start, and registration usually closes when public testimony is completed. Simply follow the instructions on the screen.
How do I speak before the committee? If you want to speak before the Redistricting committee, follow the same instructions for dropping a card above, and indicate that you wish to speak -- but be ready to wait, for several hours if need be, while invited testimony is given priority. Public testimony is usually limited to 2-3 minutes, plus answering any questions from legislators. If providing written testimony, please provide 13 copies with your name on each copy.
Where do I park? We recommend the Capitol Visitors Center Parking Garage, 1201 San Jacinto Blvd., just east of the Captiol. Parking is free for the first 2 hours, and $1 after (max. $12).
Can I submit comments online? Yes, though we’re urging as many people as possible to show up in person. More information.
Can I call my state Representatives? Yes. The numbers are below for Travis County (though we do not predict the Democrats will be very responsive):

Representative District 46, Sheryl Cole -D (512) 463-0506
