Election Integrity Victory: Hand-audit of GOP Primary approved
St. Patrick's Day is our green light to start manually auditing the results of the 2026 Republican Primary.
Thanks to the persistence of Travis GOP Chair Jennifer Fleck, the Travis County Elections Division will now facilitate a manual count of the ballots from the three polling places with the highest turnout. This post-election hand count audit will start Tuesday, March 17 and last until finished or a deadline of Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in line with Texas Secretary of State ballot audit guidelines.
“This is incredibly exciting news for all Travis County voters and anyone concerned about election integrity," Fleck said. "A manual audit is something I and our Travis GOP elections team made absolutely certain was placed into our contract with the Travis County Clerk's office. Although we contract with the county to conduct the election, it’s still our Republican Primary -- We remain 100% committed to ensuring that every vote is secure and accurately counted to the extent that the law allows."
Although counting staff for this audit has already been chosen, anyone interested in applying to work or volunteer in the upcoming Primary Runoff in May can email Elections.TCRP@gmail.com. Election Judge, Alternate Judge, Clerk, and Central Count positions available. Some positions pay $22/hour.
