FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Which candidates do you support? We support ALL Republican candidates! The Republican Primary (and your vote) picked our nominees in the spring, and we support the entire slate that you helped to select. However, any race below Constable on your ballot is technically non-partisan. Fortunately, the county Executive Committee (all precinct chairmen + party staff, officers, and chairman) may vote to endorse, and we have in numerous cases. Scroll down to the bottom of our Candidates page to see our Local Non-Partisan Races endorsements, such as school boards, council races, and local referenda.
Why don’t you have more candidates on the ballot? The Democrats have us outnumbered! Due to a huge upswing in Republican voters, we’ve received many questions about why there are many local ballot positions not filled — particularly in the judicial races. The short answer is we are focusing on a small number of candidates who are dedicated to winning in November! The longer answer: there are two main approaches that parties take when recruiting candidates. One is that we should fill every race with a mix of serious and unserious candidates (as third parties often do), and the other is that we should recruit only candidates who are laser-focused on winning. Preferably, we would want the best of both worlds: a dedicated, passionate, hard-working Republican candidate in EVERY local race! However, with a Democratic monopoly in Travis County, it can often be difficult for those in certain professions to step out and support the GOP. We understand the steep climb ahead, but we invite all of you to help our Candidate Recruitment Committee to identify strong candidates for 2026. Contact us if you know of someone courageous, qualified, and who would be ideal.
If Travis County is so blue, why should I support Republicans in the Austin area? Am I wasting my time and resources? Let’s put it this way: Do the Democrats give up statewide because Texas is red? Of course not! We press on. And not only are there many jurisdictions that cut into Travis County that depend on a strong conservative showing in Travis in order to win, but we have pockets of this county that are very winnable. We “punch above our weight” as a local party and our effectiveness speaks for itself. If you’re not sure and want to support the entire slate, we welcome your donations here!
I just want a sign in my yard. How do I get one? We urge you to volunteer as a sure-fire way to get some free campaign swag, including signs! But otherwise, check our our “Where do I get a sign” article for ways you can pick some up or even buy a few, including our coveted Trump/Vance and Trump for Texas signs.
I’m a registered Democrat. Can I vote for Republicans? Yes, your ballot is private, and your vote is your business alone. While your primary vote in the spring is your “voter registration” in Texas, you are not bound to any one set of candidates in the November general election. You’re free to vote red! We also welcome Greens, Libertarians, independents, and anyone else to support our great candidates.
How can I help make sure these candidates are fairy elected? Please drop our Elections team a note and let them know you’re interested in working the election. Some positions even pay! Elections.TCRP@gmail.com.
