Chairman Condemns Manhattan Guilty Verdict
AUSTIN — Travis County Republican Party (TCRP) chair Matt Mackowiak released a statement following the guilty verdict announced in Manhattan today:
“Today is a dark day in American history as the judicial process was illegally and unconstitutionally manipulated by a partisan actor in the Manhattan DA and a farcical, unhinged judge who sought to weaponize our crown jewel legal system in service of the Biden reelection campaign. There are at least 15 legitimate grounds for appeal, and I predict President Trump will win on appeal. I also predict Judge Merchan will be punished for his outrageous and biased conduct overseeing this trial.
“There is no underlying crime, the judge allowed a federal case to be brought in a state court outside the statute of limitations and allowed testimony from a convicted perjurer as the star witness.
“Today’s jury verdict is one of the most outrageous in American history. Voters are watching. Republicans, independents, and moderate Democrats are incensed at this show trial which is an undeniable attempt to interfere in a presidential election, confirmed by the fact that sentencing has been scheduled for three days before the RNC Convention in Milwaukee.
“I am calling on all Republicans in Travis County, even those who may not always agree with President Trump or like his style, to unify behind him and fight this madness or we will see America further destroyed.
“I am asking every local Republican to join me in contributing to the Trump campaign today (give here: https://secure.winred.com/save-america-joint-fundraising-committee/hddpage-36310) to show your outrage at this verdict and channel it into something positive. If the website is down, you can text TRUMP to 88022 to donate.
“The stakes in this election require a full commitment from every patriot that wishes to save America. TCRP will lock arms with the Trump campaign, the RNC, and our entire GOP ticket to save America.”
