RESOLUTION OPPOSING MISLEADING PAC ATTACKS

Whereas, a political action committee from Massachusetts, Protect and Serve Texas PAC, has been spreading deceitful misinformation regarding former Republican Austin City Councilwoman Ellen Troxclair, stating that she defunded the police while she was in office; and

Whereas, the Austin Police Department's budget increased every year Ellen Troxclair served on the city council; and

Whereas, Ellen Troxclair voted to increase Austin Police Department's budget by 13% while she was on council and supported the police her entire term with over a hundred pro-police votes; and

Whereas, the Austin City Council did not defund the police department until almost two years after Ellen Troxclair's term on city council was over; and

Whereas, Ellen Troxclair was actively involved and publicly outspoken against the city council when they did defund the police and for the passage of Prop A to refund the police; and

Whereas, the Tarrant County Republican Party recently admonished the Protect and Serve Texas PAC for misleading voters in their county as well; and

Now therefore be it resolved that the Travis County Republican Party condemns in the strongest terms possible out of state political action committees misleading voters in our county about the record of our Republican elected officials who have supported the law enforcement officers in our community before, during, and after their tenure in office.

Be it further resolved that this resolution should not be construed as an endorsement of any candidate in this race.
